Body Image: It's Not Just About How You See Your Body

Friday, November 30, 2012

Let's be honest. As women, we can be pretty hard on ourselves, and we can be especially hard on how our bodies look. Having a negative body image can affect not only how you feel about yourself, but it can also keep you from living the life you want to have. Maybe you feel self-conscious about putting on workout clothes or going to the gym, and as a result, you don’t exercise. Or maybe you feel really uncomfortable in social situations like parties, dating, trying new activities and meeting new people, so you avoid being social or meeting up with your friends as much as you might like.

If this sounds familiar, you are not alone. Lots of women struggle with negative body image. And just like you are taking charge so that cigarettes don’t rule your life, you can take charge to create a more positive body image. Creating positive thoughts about your body, the way you look and your choice to be healthy will help you live the life you deserve to live!

Try this!
Take a few minutes to write down 3 to 5 reasons for why you are choosing to live a healthier life. Ask yourself: What am I doing to make myself healthier and feel better? What are the positive things that will come from living life as a healthy Smokefree Woman? The next time you find yourself holding back from doing something because of how you feel about your looks, motivate yourself by focusing on your list of reasons for healthy living and challenge yourself to do it anyway!
