4 Reasons Why People Don't Exercise & Ways to Overcome Them

We have crazy, busy lives. And being busy doesn’t leave much time for being physically active. If you find yourself struggling to get in enough time for physical activity, you're not alone.
Here are some common reasons people don’t exercise—and some suggestions for overcoming these barriers.
I don’t have time.
Between demands at work and home, juggling time with friends and family, and trying to unwind from all of the busy-ness, it can be hard to find time for one more thing. The good news is that being active doesn’t have to take up a lot of time. Find out how you can make the most of just 10 minutes!
I don’t have the motivation.
Motivation is mental energy. When you’re pulled in a dozen different directions, it’s hard to find the mental energy—the motivation—to be physically active. Think about why you want to exercise and how being physically active will help you to do other things you want to do in your life like playing with your kids or traveling to new places.
I hate exercise.
Maybe you had a bad experience with junior high gym. Or maybe you find some of the ”normal” physical sensations of exercise to be uncomfortable. The key to getting into a regular exercise routine is to find activities you enjoy. Try a group fitness class at your gym or the local Y, try out a new fitness app or exercise DVD, or check out a new park and go for a walk or hike. You may find something you like about exercise after all.
It interferes with time with my family and friends.

My body still looks the same.
It takes time for your body to start to change. Being active is also about being healthy and feeling better. Remember to celebrate those perks too.
