Quiz: Are You Over-Wired?

woman texting

Busy texting, emailing, gaming, blogging, pinning, or cyber-shopping but don’t have time for a good night’s sleep or an evening walk to get your heart pumping? Technology has a lot to offer and can be a huge timesaver with our hectic schedules. But do you ever wonder if your tech time might be taking over?

Ask yourself the following questions about your digital life:

  1. Do you spend more time texting your family members than seeing them in person—even those who live at home with you?

  2. Have you ever thought about sending your dog a text to let him know that you will be home later for his evening walk?

  3. It’s your favorite Aunt’s 80th birthday. Are you tempted to send an e-card rather than picking up the phone to say “Happy Birthday?” (doesn’t everyone have a computer these days, anyway!?)

  4. When walking down the street, would you be able to recognize ALL of your Facebook friends and if so, would you actually stop and say hello?

  5. Do you hear message pings and then rush to your phone or computer to answer?

  6. Do you find yourself down-playing the amount of time you spend on social media—it’s only five hours anyway?

  7. Do you find yourself turning to Google for advice on issues related to childrearing, career planning, and your health—more than your family, friends, colleagues, or physician?

  8. Do you find yourself staying up late catching up on emails?

  9. Do you find yourself spending more time sitting (and slouching!) in front of the computer instead of hitting the gym?

  10. Do you vent your frustrations to all 987 of your “friends” on your favorite social media site instead of facing the “tough stuff?”

If you answered yes to any of these questions, you could be over-wired! Check out our tips for finding balance in the digital age.
